Durr, I suppose. I didn't get a "default version" you see. I suppose someone had changed some commands and gave it to me. :p

That seems awfully ridicilous rule. I have 'autojoin when kicked' enabled, and this suggests that I should change my settings everytime I plan to join #starwreck (or alternately not to get kicked). What's so bad about autojoin that it has to be forbidden?

In short: Kick is not an invite.

And you are sure that everyone who is an op there won't kick someone out without a reason? Just for fun? Some personal agenda? Atleast you have faith.

Also, if you only kick someone out when they are not welcome, why bother even letting them back in? Just do the temporary couple minutes ban instantly to avoid autojoins.

If the rules say no autorejoin and you cannot live with this, problem is yours. If you have a tendency to get kicked so often you actually need autorejoins, i wonder if you're so pleasant to have on a channel anyway.

It's not a problem unless moderators are jackasses. I'm just curious, that's all, so chill out.

Well, we don't kick without reason. Thus the autorejoin point.

kicking is a slap on the wrist
something that will force the person to write the join command again if we wishes to be a part of the channel
this often either straightens out the kicked or enrages him
if autorejoin is enabled, this nullifies the effect of the kick to the kicked person

I would like to note that the quote referred to in the howto is a fake.

In this point I might add that like most super-geeky stuff, IRC was created by a Finn named Jarkko Oikarinen in 1988. He never meant IRC to be used in it's present form and he has also expressed that in public -> http://www.bash.org/?58108

I have not stated that, and I also did not use my first name as a nickname on IRC.

Could we get a rule concerning UTF-8?

Either disallow the use of UTF-8 completely, or tell everyone to use it.

Right now the majority of the people have a client that cannot translate UTF-8, and the channel is being attacked by UTF-8 -crusaders who refuse to use the "old" scands on the channel.

A clear statement from the opers would be appreciated. The truth is, UTF-8 hardly brings anything to the channel, so I can't understand why the majority of people should be required to go through the trouble of getting their client to understand it.
