Way ahead of you.

Now that I look at that guide, I think I should rewrite it completely...it's kinda old now.

Well, we can't tell everyone to use it, because after that there would be two people on the channel instead of two hundred...

Adding the decode script to mirc isn't that big of a problem, but I guess most people can't do that either...

I have been asking nicely and even kicking and banning those UTF-8 crusaders when I have been around and I will continue to do so in the future as well. In short:

No UTF-8 until majority (aka. Windows clients) of IRC programs support it without extra scripts/changes

The decode script wrecks most of other scripts people are running and it also hides the @ and + signs from nicklist. Not a very good trade-off.

I didn't have any problems. I guess it works better with older versions of mirc.

But I think it's a fair ruling that no UTF-8 before the major clients support it.

Jos aina odottaa odottamatonta, silloin se ei enää ole odottamatonta. Ja silloin on alttiina oikeesti odottamattomalle koska sitä ei odota

I can't switch my whole system to UTF-8 just because one room full of Windows users can't produce UTF-8. For the english talking this should not be a problem anyway.
