Download Iron Sky ?

Postby pacman1897 » Wed Apr 04, 2012 12:00

Hello to all,
I have googled frenetically this morning, and I don't understand why I can't download Iron Sky as I downloaded Star Wreck a few years ago.
Does Energia wants to follow the regular path for a movie : theater, DVD, TV without any possibility of simply downloading it ? Is Iron Sky submitted to the rules of copyright as the common movies ?
I thaught it will still be a free movie (free as free speach, not as free bier). Is it the case or not ?
To make it brief : can I download it right or not ? If yes, where please ?
This is not clear for me.
Thanks.

Iron Sky was made with several film producing companies investing n it about 6,5 million euros. In addition to that one million of financing came from the crowdfunding sources, that is fans of the film.

That means: there are several financing organisations involved in the production expecting it to be profitable and wanting to get some interest to their money.

Thus, you see, Iron Sky is no more a shoelace budget movie of Energia production.

The distribution goes therefore on the traditional commercial ways: people must buy tickets to movie theaters to see it. Later I hope there will be an opportunity for me to buy me a DVD or blue-ray copy of the film. The rights to show the film are sold for about 70 countries at the moment. The companies that bought the rights to show the film are also expecting the film distribution to be profitable.

Therefore it is not available free on the Internet.

If the film is successful also financially and that means it is sucessful in the box office, that means we have in the future opportunity to see more productions from these guys who made Star Wreck and Iron Sky. Best way to support the guys at the moment is to see that wonderful Iron Sky in theaters! I have seen it and my recommendations: it is an excellent movie.

Here is a map, where you can see the countries that have distributors of the film confirmed:

Not ashamed at all !!!
I'm a great fan of Star Wreck, and I'm very desappointed to be forced to pay for Iron Sky, though I understand why it cannot be a "free" film.
I want to add that Iron Sky is not distributed in France, the map is wrong.
I hope the DVD edition will be soon available.

Speaking of downloads, I would highly prefer to buy mine as digital download rather than on a plastic disc. Hopefully you can master mkv H.264 1080p 5.1 for that, even if the warez scene will do it shortly after blu-ray release in any case (or just download the warez release and start selling it).

pacman, movies cost a lot of money to make. While I don't see the point of paying for copies and would rather see people paying for the production instead (well, they did for 1 M€), most of the revenue still comes from sales and royalties.

To make up the budget we need to sell the film to distributors in different areas. They all take the online distribution rights for said area, so we can't set up a download system of our own.
